This New Lock Screen Feature Is Being Tested By YouTube On iOS And Android: Find Out More

Share

YouTube, which is owned by Google, recently revealed that it is testing a new lock screen feature that would let viewers turn off touch input while viewing a video.

According to the company’s experiments website, “Lock Screen disables touch input while watching a video so that accidental taps do not pause, skip, or disrupt the video.”<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-61847″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-this-new-lock-screen-feature-is-being-tested-by-youtube-on-ios-and-android-find-out-more-download-2023-07-07t142127.285.jpg” alt=”” width=”1125″ height=”630″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-this-new-lock-screen-feature-is-being-tested-by-youtube-on-ios-and-android-find-out-more-download-2023-07-07t142127.285.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-this-new-lock-screen-feature-is-being-tested-by-youtube-on-ios-and-android-find-out-more-download-2023-07-07t142127.285-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1125px) 100vw, 1125px” />

Both iOS and Android users will have access to this new capability. Even though the function is still being tested, Premium users still have access to it until July 30.

Users who want to utilize this function while viewing a video in full-screen mode must hit the gear icon in the top-left corner of the screen and choose “Lock Screen.”

The video-sharing website had also announced last month that it was experimenting with a three-strikes policy for users with ad blockers. We are urging users who have ad blockers activated to turn them off or to test YouTube Premium as part of a short experiment we are doing worldwide. Ad blocker detection is not new, and other publishers often request that users turn off their ad blockers, according to a YouTube representative.

Along with providing information on the policy’s operation, the business also said that “ad blockers violate YouTube’s Terms of Service.”
